An Insight Session on “Govt. Careers for Commerce Graduates: Pathways, Prep & Potential”
The B.Com Department (Faculty of Management), Invertis University, Bareilly, organized an Insight Session on “Govt. Careers for Commerce Graduates: Pathways, Prep & Potential” for the students of B.Com (H) and B.Com (2nd & 3rd Year). The objective of the session was to acquaint students with the wide array of career opportunities in the government sector and to guide them on effective preparation strategies.
The session, held on 20th August 2025, emphasized three main areas:
1. Opportunities in Government Sector for Commerce Graduates
2. Preparation Strategies and Required Skill Sets
3. Career Pathways and Growth Potential
The resource person, Mr. Ravi Verma (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Management), enlightened the students about career opportunities in fields such as Banking, Financial Institutions, Chartered Accountancy, SSC, UPSC, Railways, and other government departments. He highlighted how Commerce graduates can leverage their academic background to gain an edge in competitive examinations.
The session also covered exam preparation techn iques, including time management, use of authentic resources, current affairs awareness, and mock test practices. Mr. Verma encouraged students to set clear career goals, adopt a disciplined study schedule, and remain consistent in their efforts.
An interactive discussion followed, where students raised queries about exam eligibility, subject preparation, and balancing academics with competitive exam preparation. Mr. Verma patiently addressed each question, providing practical insights and motivating students to pursue their aspirations with confidence.
The session proved to be highly beneficial as it not only enhanced students’ awareness for government job opportunities but also gave them a structured approach to career planning and preparation.
The session was conducted under the kind guidance of Prof. YDS Arya (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Manish Gupta (Dean Management) and Dr. Dheeraj Gandhi (Head of Department, B.Com). The support of faculty members including Dr. Mohnish Kumar, Dr. Manmohan Bansal and Mr. Naman Agarwal contributed to the success of the program.
