Invertis Group of Institutions is alive to social problems and conducts research studies to highlight the strengths and weaknesses in the economy. Unbiased research is a valuable contribution and the group does not lag behind in this respect too. The findings given here come out of one such study conducted by our faculty Dr. Alok Kumar Panday.
The Institute believes in being relevant to the society and it can do so by undertaking timely and meaningful basic research. We undertook a survey of Below Poverty Line families of an area in Aonla tehsil of Bareilly district. The result has been quite revealing and a copy of each has been forwarded to the authorities who matter. The summary is appended here. Any query in this regard is to be forwarded to Dr. Alok Kumar Pandey at pandey.alok@rediffmail.com.

Merits and limitations of longitudinal and cross sectional methods for studying growth and development of children are discussed. One year follow-up method for studying growth and development of children from 0-20 years is also described.
Relationships between body measurements, dental development and sexual maturation are also reported. The nature and extent of anthropometric measurements needed for growth and nutritional studies, adaptation, as well as ethnic/racial variation studies have been referred here. Extremely high positive correlation exists between roentgenogrammetric (radiographic) measurements of subcutaneous fat at triceps and the caliper measurements of skinfolds at triceps and the usefulness of the skin fold calipers is indicated. Arm girth shows high positive correlation with body weight, weight/height ratio as well as the body mass index (BMI) of the individuals. Arm girth, therefore, is extremely valuable nutritional measurement. Relationships of age at menarche with adult height and weight of the girls are reported. Early maturing girls are shorter and heavier as adults while late maturing girls are taller and lighter as adults. Methods of studying secular trends in the mean height and weight of children and adults in different parts of the country are reported. A secular trend towards younger age at menarche of girls in Delhi has been observed.
